The best hearing aid jokes

Time to Read: 5 minutes

We all love a good joke or two, so we decided to share our favourite hearing aid hearing aid jokes.

But we do have a serious reason for joking.

If you have unaddressed hearing loss, you might find yourself struggling with getting the punchline of jokes - especially ones that involve puns and word play.

And jokes, humour and comedy is important for social, psychological and physical well being:

Big laugh-1Humor appears to help people's psychological and physical well-being - for example, helping folks cope with stress and adversity. Humor even seems to help people grieve.

Humor has physical benefits, too. Laughter - especially a hearty laugh - has been shown to benefit your circulation, lungs and muscles (especially those around the belly area). Humor also helps people deal with pain and physical adversity.

Sharing humour is one of the ways we connect with family, friends and with the world and it has been shown to improve an individual’s overall quality of life:

Humour guards guards against depression. Researchers discovered those who score highly in certain types of humour have better self-esteem, more positive affect, greater self-competency, more control over anxiety, and perform better in social interactions.

Did you know that your sense of humour changes as you get older?

One of the most consistent findings about humor and aging is that humor appreciation increases with age, but at some point, roughly around 60 years of age, enjoyment of humor starts to decline. In addition, while humor appreciation increases with age, comprehension of humor declines. It has been suggested that there is an ‘inverse U’ relationship between cognitive demands and humor appreciation. Typically, jokes with an intermediate level of difficulty are considered the funniest, while jokes that are too easy or too hard to understand are less funny. Jokes that are too easy to understand do not stimulate the mind and hence, lose their allure.

Without further, here are our hearing aid jokes:

Turned Off

What do you call an old man with his hearing aids turned off?

Anything you want, he can't hear you.

Cheap Hearing Aids

A man realized he needed to purchase a hearing aid, but didn't want to spend a lot of money.

“How much do they cost?" he asked.

"They range from $2 to $2,000."

"Can I see the $2 model?" said the customer.

The salesman put a large device around the man's neck, and said: "You just stick this red tube in your ear and run this cable down into your pocket."

"How does it work?" asked the customer.

"For $2, it doesn't work," said the salesman. "But when people see it on you, they'll talk much slower and louder."

Suppository

The old man was sitting on the examining table in the doctor’s office having his hearing checked.

The doctor poked his light scope in the old man’s ear and said, “Hey, you have a suppository in your ear!”

“Rats,” said the old man. “Now I know where my hearing aid went.”

Hearing Better Now

An elderly man was having hearing problems and went to see a specialist. The doctor fitted him with some hearing aids that brought his hearing back to full strength.

After a few weeks the man came back to make sure the new equipment was working properly, which it was.

The hearing specialist said, “It all seems perfect. Your family should be delighted you can hear everything now."

“Oh no," the man responded. “I haven’t told any of them. I just sit quietly, listening carefully. I’ve changed my will four times."
